Hair fall is the process where your hair starts falling off at a certain time of the year to give way for growth of new hair. The other reason why hair falls is because of the weather. The time of the year when the hair starts falling is during autumn. During the time of autumn the sun rays are really strong and at this point of time it results in severe hair fall.

Another reason for hair fall is the water. When water is salted it harms the hair. Using of dyes causes damage to the hair as there are chemicals which colours the hair and these chemicals react with the cells of the hair which ideally affects the scalp of the hair. When the chemicals affect the scalp it results in hair loss. These chemicals react not only with the hair but also the skin on the scalp and cause dryness which results in strength loss of the hair resulting in hair loss.

There are a lot of shampoos and chemicals available in the market which prevents hair fall. There are a lot of oils available in the market. The natural methods for hair care are also available and they have been proved to be more efficient than the shampoos and conditioners available in the market. The use of lime on the hair is said to be very good as it prevents the formation of dandruff. After applying onion the person needs to wait for an hour and then wash with shampoo.

The next day they need to apply coconut oil on the head and leave it as it is for half the day or for the whole day. At the end of the day one the hair washed the difference can be seen. The hair would be soft. On alternate days keep applying coconut oil and have bath. What it ideally does is strengthens the hair as the scalp is not dry and there is no formation of dandruff.

Drinking milk is another natural way of preventing hair fall. Milk contains calcium which is another requirement of preventing hair loss. As calcium strengthens bones in the body, similarly it strengthens the hair. Beer is also said to be good for the hair. It not only softens the hair but also the malt plays a critical role in preventing hair fall. It bonds the cells which indirectly are strengthened. Consumption of food with fat content is also said to be good for the hair as the scalp is moisturized.

With all that itching and scratching, you are sure to grab attention, and not just the white flakes that can be seen on your hair and on your shoulders.

You may already be aware that there are dozens of products that are made to specifically target this scalp problem. But before you delve into the various shampoos and chemicals used to control dandruff, here is some info about the physiological basis of this condition.

The skin on the scalp, like on the rest of the body, has an outer layer called the stratum corneum. This top layer of epidermis normally sheds off on a regular basis to give rise to healthier and younger skin cells. However, in the case of a scalp that is affected by dandruff, this skin shedding is abnormal, and more regular than usual.

What brings about this skin abnormality? The skin on the scalp tends to produce too much sebum or oil, which causes the growth of a fungus known as Malassezia. This fungal species feeds on sebum and secretes certain oils that affect the stratum corneum, causing the cells to be irritated and shed off more rapidly than it can regenerate.

Besides the physiological causes, there are some sources that define dandruff as a possible allergic reaction to certain hair products. There are also scientific and health sources that explain how dandruff can be aggravated by the type of diet as well as the hygiene habits of an individual.

To be more specific, there are foods that cause active secretions of the sebaceous glands in the skin, especially on the scalp. These include spicy foods and overly fatty foods. One way to reduce the occurrence of dandruff is to keep the scalp clean, thus reducing the possibility of fungi thriving on it.

Dandruff cannot be totally eliminated, contrary to what anti dandruff shampoo commercials claim to be able to do. However, with the right approach, this scalp irritating problem can be controlled. For one thing, you can switch to an anti-dandruff shampoo that contains any of the following active ingredients: zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, and salicylic acid. Ketoconazole is also a known type of medication that is formulated to kill fungal spores and stop the growth of fungi. Ketoconazole can actually be found in some specially medicated shampoos for people with dandruff.

Your hair possesses many properties. Factors such as color, appearance, texture, and healthiness of hair can be affected by these physiological properties. Here is a concept that you should try to understand when using products to treat and care for your hair. This is known as pH, which defines how acidic or how alkaline a substance is. pH is measured across various solutions in the body, such as on your blood, your stomach acids, and even the oils and sweat produced by your scalp. With this in mind, you can already surmise that pH can also affect the overall health of your hair.

What is the pH scale? This is the basis that helps determine how acidic or basic a chemical solution is. If the pH is measured at 7, such as in distilled water, you can expect it to be neutral. If it goes above 7, like for bleaches and detergents, it is considered basic or alkaline. If the pH is measured below 7, like for vinegar and lemon juice, it is now acidic.

Normally, most areas of the body like the scalp, skin surface, and the stomach contains acidic substances. The pH on the hair and scalp, to be more specific, is about 5. as said before, pH affects the health of the hair, which is why the pH of products used on hair can also have significant effects on your tresses.

Speaking of hair care, the most common product people can’t do without is shampoo. This has a slightly acidic pH, but more close to neutral for gentle shampoos. Shampoo has to have a lower pH to be able to clear off the scum and excess oils on the scalp and hair. A neutral shampoo is often used for babies or people with sensitive scalp and hair, to prevent irritation. Conditioners are also acidic, so that they can cause the surface of hair strands to flatten out and be smooth instead of bristly like roof shingles, as how hair strand surfaces would normally look when you have a bad hair day.

When you go for a perm, on the other hand, the chemicals used on hair are more basic, or have a pH above 7. This creates specific types of chemical bonds on the surfaces of hair strands, causing them to curl up. pH is also an important factor in other hair treatment products such as hair dyes or hair colors.

Hair has many properties, which affects its texture, color, appearance, and overall health. To be able to effectively care for your hair, you should be familiar about a concept known as pH, which is also known as acidity or alkalinity, and how this property can affect your tresses.

Here is a bit of info about pH, as defined in terms of chemical properties of solutions. As said before, pH is the measure of how acidic or basic a substance is. The pH of 7, means that a solution is neutral, neither acidic nor basic. Distilled water is an example of this. When pH falls below 7, it is considered acidic. When it goes above 7, it is basic or alkaline.

The normal pH of the human body, the scalp, and hair, is at around 5. The various products used to treat and care for hair may also differ in their pH, depending on their intended purpose.

For example, the use of hair coloring products have different pH levels, which can affect how temporary or permanent the dye will be. Temporary hair dyes usually contain an acidic pH, so that they do not easily penetrate the hair strands.

However, more permanent hair dyes contain alkaline chemicals like ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, which can penetrate hair strands to their cores, or the cortexes. This affects the production of melanin, which is responsible for your natural hair color. Because permanent hair coloring can be highly basic and may have corrosive properties on hair, it is not always a recommended option for people who want to maintain healthy and strong tresses.

Here is a bit of note about shampoos. Most shampoos are also made to be neutral or at times, slightly acidic. The high pH will allow the shampoo to easily clear off any oils or dirt that have formed on the hair and scalp. Neutral shampoos may be recommended for people who have sensitive scalps. In the same manner, hair conditioner is acidic or carries a high pH, because it causes the keratin on the hair strand surface to be flattened out instead of bristly, thus causing hair to be smooth and soft.

What about hair perms? The chemicals involved in this process are mostly basic, which creates chemical bonds on the surface of hair strands. This makes the hair curly instead of smooth and straight. As you can see, pH is significant in terms of its effect on hair. So the next time you use certain chemical on your hair, you now know what its pH can do for your precious mane.

Hair coloring was not something everyone could afford few years back. But times have changed now; several companies have started to market a variety of hair color products at a reasonable price. Since you have a lot of choices available you need to get the knack of choosing the right type of hair colorant, which gives you that unique look you are after.

Firstly, choose your hair style depending on your facial appearance. And before you color your hair you need to consider the color of your eye and your skin tone too. Once you have colored your hair there are certain things which you need to avoid.

Like going out in the sun or shampooing your hair too much, even salty water is said to deteriorate the color from your hair. So, it’s best to avoid these for at least two or three days for good results after coloring your hair. Apply shampoos and conditioners which are specially recommended for colored hair.

It’s very important to choose the right type of hair color such that it suits to your skin complexion. The reason for this being, for instance any hair color would look good on a person who has pale skin; however for a person who has a pink complexion coloring his/her hair either crimson or auric, would not look attractive at all.

As mentioned above there are several hair color products available, you need to find out which suits best for you. There are a few things which you need to keep in mind before purchasing a hair colorant. Like the reputation of the brand, the quality & the price, you also need to test the product before purchasing it. Certain hair colorants are also said to cause skin allergy, so you need to do your home work before purchasing a hair color kit.

Try to reduce or even avoid chemical treatments or hot oil treatments for your hair. This is because the chemicals could be acidic and this can cause severe damage to your hair and its natural shade. Color your hair after you has got a haircut, a simple reason being you do not want your beautifully colored hair to end up on the floor of a hair salon. Apply hair conditioner once in a week to conserve the color of your hair for a longer time.

Also you could drink plenty of water to keep your roots moisturized and prevent them from drying. This reduces hair fall. If you have got long hair and if you are coloring your hair by yourself, make sure you have sufficient colorant to color it. You do not want to find yourself running short of the colorant in the middle of hair coloring. Minor mistakes could occur in spite of you giving your best effort, so consult a cosmetologist for help, with hair coloring and beauty tips.
